5 Essential Benefits of Drone Survey in Bangladesh – Alokito Bangladesh Project

Ultimate Drone Survey in Bangladesh – Alokito Bangladesh Project Completion

Project Name: Alokito Bangladesh
Project Location: Kabirpur, Shimulia, Savar, Dhaka
Client: Amin Mohammad Lands Development Ltd. – Committed to build the best since 1993
Project Title: Drone-Based Topography Survey
Project Area: 5.00 SQKM

Introduction

Geotech Engineering Ltd. proudly announces the successful completion of the drone-based topographic survey for the esteemed Alokito Bangladesh project. Situated in Kabirpur, Shimulia, Savar, Dhaka, this large-scale survey spanned an impressive 5 square kilometers, providing highly accurate orthophotos and topographic data that are critical to the planning and development stages of the project.

With rapid urbanization and increasing demand for reliable geospatial data, drone-based surveys have become a game-changer in Bangladesh’s land development sector. This project demonstrates our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver precise, timely, and cost-effective surveying solutions.

Project Objectives

The primary goal of this project was to generate a detailed and accurate topographic map of the entire 5.00 SQKM site. This data supports:

  • Accurate land use planning and zoning
  • Design and layout of infrastructure including roads, utilities, and buildings
  • Environmental and flood risk assessment
  • Volume calculations for earthworks and site grading
  • Regulatory approvals and documentation

Scope of Work

The scope of our work for the Alokito Bangladesh project included the following key components:

  1. Temporary Benchmark (TBM) Installation and Static GPS Observations: Establishing precise control points across the project site to serve as geodetic references for the survey.
  2. Drone-Based Aerial Survey: Utilizing the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise drone equipped with RTK technology to capture high-resolution aerial imagery with centimeter-level accuracy.
  3. GPS Operations: Employing CSC iBase base station and CSC i89 rover station to conduct static observations and measure Ground Control Points (GCPs), ensuring georeferencing precision.
  4. Data Processing and Analysis: Using DJI Terra software for photogrammetric processing to create orthomosaic maps, digital surface models, and detailed 3D terrain models.

Advanced Equipment and Technology

Our choice of advanced equipment was critical to achieving the high precision and quality required by the project:

  • DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Drone: Featuring RTK capabilities, this drone platform ensures highly accurate positioning and detailed image capture suitable for topographic mapping.
  • CSC iBase and CSC i89 GPS Stations: Used for static observations and real-time kinematic positioning, these instruments guarantee precise location data for TBMs and GCPs.
  • DJI Terra Software: A comprehensive photogrammetry solution that enabled us to efficiently process aerial images into orthomosaics and 3D models, facilitating data interpretation and client reporting.

Project Execution and Workflow

The survey began with careful planning and reconnaissance of the site to determine optimal TBM locations. Our surveyors installed multiple TBMs to establish a robust control network, and GPS static observations were conducted over several days to fix their precise positions.

Following TBM installation, the drone-based aerial survey was conducted during optimal weather conditions to capture clear, high-resolution imagery. Flight paths were meticulously planned to ensure complete coverage with sufficient overlap between images for photogrammetric processing.

Ground Control Points were established and measured using our GPS equipment, providing the necessary georeferencing framework. The collected data was then processed with DJI Terra, generating orthophotos and digital elevation models that provide invaluable insights into the terrain.

Key Deliverables

Upon completion, the client received:

  • High-resolution orthophotos accurately representing the project site.
  • Digital Surface Models (DSM) and Digital Terrain Models (DTM) showing terrain variations.
  • Precise coordinates of TBMs and GCPs used for ongoing and future surveying efforts.
  • Detailed geospatial reports supporting design, construction, and regulatory compliance.

Benefits to the Client

By utilizing drone technology combined with advanced GPS surveying, Amin Mohammad Lands Development Ltd. gained several advantages:

  • Time Efficiency: Drone surveys cover large areas faster than traditional ground surveys, accelerating project timelines.
  • Cost Savings: Reduced manpower and equipment needs translate into lower overall surveying costs.
  • Improved Accuracy: RTK-enabled drones and high-precision GPS instruments ensure centimeter-level positional accuracy.
  • Enhanced Data Visualization: Orthomosaics and 3D models allow planners and engineers to visualize the terrain effectively.
  • Informed Decision Making: Reliable geospatial data supports sound planning, risk assessment, and design optimization.
