Geotechnical Investigation for Chevron Bangladesh’s BYF Project Engineering Works: Strengthening Infrastructure for Long-Term Sustainability

Project Name: Geotechnical Investigation of BYF Project Engineering Works (Part 1 & Part 3)

Client: SMEC International Pty Ltd.

Project Location: Goala Bazar, Osmaninagar, Sylhet to East Tilok, Jagannathpur, Sunamganj

Chevron Bangladesh is undertaking the development of the BYF Project, which includes the design and construction of critical infrastructure such as access roads, bridge strengthening, land development, and rig pad design. The project is divided into three key parts:

  • BYF Road and Bridge Strengthening Work
  • Hydraulic and Mathematical Modelling of Kushiara River
  • Land Development, Design of Rig Pad, Drainage, and Pavement for Access Road

Our role in this project involved conducting comprehensive geotechnical investigations for Part I and Part III. This included assessing subsurface conditions for the proposed road and bridge upgrades, as well as for the rig pad and access road development. The investigation focused on ensuring that the foundations of these structures would be safe and durable in the long term, taking into account the soil composition and other environmental factors in the region.

Stretching from Goala Bazar in Osmaninagar Upazila, Sylhet, to East Tilok in Jagannathpur Upazila, Sunamganj, this project plays a vital role in improving infrastructure for Chevron’s operations in the area. The investigation results were crucial in guiding the design and construction process, ensuring that all elements of the development meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
